The beats of musical artist Little Dragon set the tone for 80%20’s Holiday 2011 collection. Designer Ce Ce Chin offers up an eclectic array of pieces that transition the working city girl into her weekends- concert going, holiday shopping or weekends at the country house.

Keeping the winter months in mind, Ce Ce designed a collection rife with allusion to snow, winter animals, and preppy patterns. The Dalmation dotted haircalf on the Seanne and Rina are reminiscent of a romantic snowfall. The Fawn color speckled brown on the Mona and Seanne, was inspired by the dearest of all deers, Bambi. Ce Ce loves a classic Herringbone blazer, and screen printed this traditionally tweedy pattern onto haircalf leather. Luggage leathers and fringy suedes are used on the short booties- all urging the wearer to take that train upstate. So do it, slip on your 80%20’s and enjoy your winter holiday!

We’re excited to announce that our shoes can now be found on Piperlime! To launch our brand on the site, Ce Ce teamed up with Piperlime to create a special capsule collection for Holiday. I sat down with Ce Ce to get the scoop on how this partnership came to be.

How did this collaboration come together?
When the buyer approached me to create an exclusive capsule collection, I jumped at the opportunity.  As Lesley Clifford, the footwear buyer explained to me, “We definitely want to keep with the indie/cool aesthetic that you guys currently have in the 80%20 line, but with a little spin that makes it uniquely Piperlime. 

How was the design process? Are there any surprises?
The process was a collaboration of ideas- we both love prints on haircalf leather and we came up with an abstract Herringbone pattern. We also designed a Mary Jane platform, which is a new silhouette for 80%20, and this represents an expansion of the line beyond our signature trademarked hidden wedge.  

What excited you most about this project?
I’ve witnessed how Piperlime has brought many emerging brands to the forefront- and I love Piperlime for this!!! And I see this as an opportunity to reach a wider audience of footwear lovers.
